Presently, to mention
but a few of the situations on ground in Nigeria:
· Naira devaluation/depreciation due to
continuous fall in the price of crude oil.
·
Mysterious killings, kidnapping and rape on
rampage.
·
Exploitation of foreign exchange users.
· Diverse political affiliation.
· Ethnic & religious disputes.
· Effects of high price of crude oil in the
international market on the country as a whole.
·
Day-time & night-time robbery.
· As a result of the declining revenue from crude
oil experts, hope is being shifted unto the rapid development of immense
agricultural and solid mineral resources for economic resurgence by the
government. And so, President and administration are welcoming and inviting
foreign and international businesses/investments, to invest in both sectors
(i.e. agriculture and mining).
·
Inter-tribal disagreement within states, thereby
brewing political tension.
·
Losses incurred by investors.
·
High rate in corruption with public funds.
·
Bad roads leading to loss of lives or serious
accidents.
·
Unstable and unfair power supply.
What
is happening to our new Nigeria, which was birth last year - 2015? What
happened last year?
§ Persistently
and consistently every week, we cried unto the Lord for a new Nigeria before
elections; for mercy; for a divine turnaround.
§ While at
it, the Lord who rules in the affairs of men, caused a divine shift – the
elections meant to hold on February 14 & 28, were postponed to March 28
& April 11.
§ Voices
were raised unto the Lord of Hosts. A 24hour surveillance prayer-chain was broadcast, calling on the God of the nation, Nigeria; the situation was so
tense in the country for threats and speculations of different kinds, but we
held on to the feet of Jesus and persevered in prayer.
§ As
men/women in travail, we labored in prayer. We sowed our tears; our
heart-cries; knocking on the doors of heaven; pleading and calling unto the
sovereign God with His All-Sovereign power.
§ As God’s
midwives (Shiphrah & Puah in Exodus 1:15), the new baby Nigeria
was birth and God’s blessing was decreed upon her.
Not Unto Us, O Lord, But Unto You Be All The Glory, Amen!
Amidst all the current
reports/situations above and as God’s midwives, what is God still expecting
of us concerning this new-baby (Nigeria) and why?
v Continue wholeheartedly,
sowing our seed of prayer of faith and the truth of God’s Word into Nigeria
(not moved by what we see or hear) – for the baby to have an all-round balanced
growth and development.
v To begin
to decree God’s intention into the nation - Job 22:28 – “Thou shall also decree a thing and it will
be established unto you.” Every baby needs vaccinations for protection
against a range of serious and fatal diseases.
Just like
vaccinations, our decrees are quick, safe and extremely effective. The more we
decree God’s mind – His Word – upon Nigeria, the less the chance of an
outbreak.
v To begin
to savour the things of God on behalf of baby Nigeria, and not the things of men;
have eyes but we should not fail to see (Mark 8:33).
v The only
time it is safe to stop vaccinating/immunizing a baby against diseases, is when
the diseases has been wiped out worldwide – For baby Nigeria, God desires that
(no matter the outrageous events happening – “diseases”) we should continue to
pray unto God about everything instead of worrying –“continue as watchman to “watch and pray” – Philippians 4:6; Luke
21:36; Mark 14:38.
v Philippians
2:14, 16 – “Do all things
without murmurings and disputings…Holding forth the word of life; that I may
rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in
vain” – For our labour not to be in vain, God does not desire that we join
the wagons of those who complain/murmur/groan/moan; a baby grumbled upon is
never a happy baby; (let’s remember what happened to the children of Israel
with all their murmurings – they never entered the rest that God had promised
them!
v Never to
give up as midwives, “For in due season we will reap, if we faint
not” (Galatians 6:9).
1 Chronicles 17:1-5,
16; 1 Chronicles 21:1-4, 7 and 2 Samuel 21:1
Prayers
For Nigeria – (President Buhari and All His Cabinet Members)
· The choice and the decision of a king can set
the whole nation to be in jeopardy/abundance/peace -
Pray that those who counsel/advice the Head
of State; all his deliberations/negotiations with foreign/national investors or
support, because of the economic downfall and state of the nation - will be
guided by the Spirit of truth (the Comforter) – John 16:13a.
· Among all the leaders that David summoned to
go and take the census, Joab was the only one who stood contrary to the King’s
order initially –
Raise up men like Joab for the President, who
desire to seek the pleasure of You God for the nation, than the pleasure of
men; brace up women like Deborah to arise to save the nation from the mighty
oppression of “indigenous Siseras”; discomfit them by Yourself O Lord, with all
their chariots and their host.
Surround him with men who are ready to arise
for Your sake – for righteousness sake - for Nigeria; men who are not lukewarm
but ready to stand upon Your Word.
Give unto the President and his cabinet
members Joabs in authority – Joabs who are bold, brave and who will take a stand
for/with God, to say no to all form of ungodly acts being proposed to the
President.
·
God as a merciful and just God –
Pray that as the wicked Siseras of Nigeria
are receiving their divine judgment, the lives of innocent ones will receive
mercy from God.
